The bat phone rings

Yesterday....

Had a great day. Worked out. Played X-Men 2 on Playstation with my son. Got a nice chunk on writing done. Took the family to my sisters for dinner and we all watched Zathura... Came home to an email from my mini-major studio.

WHAT?!?!

As stated too many times previously - I have been working on getting this film up and running for over three years - and while we have had lots of interest and great attachments - we have always been on the radar - without any locked date.

There are many reasons for this - but here is the main one - we are a cheap film. Not cheap by my standards - or even by Hollywood's for that matter - but we are paying our actors dirt. Very very cheaply. They are doing it as a favor to the project and the director. And as such - we always get pushed to the backburner when they get big projects.

So this last couple weeks have had a couple near start experiences - and suddenly - we get word yesterday that there are few things to clear up and if they clear up - WE MIGHT ACTUALLY START THIS FREAKING MOVIE!

The cautious side of me knows that a heck of a lot can happen between now and then - but if this goes, we will be on a breakneck pace to get our stuff together and hit the ground running. Right now the studio is calling on us to meet a couple conditions that most likely will not be met - so we will have to negotiate around them - or not go.

But this is the do or die time. We certainly have never been closer. I went to bed at 3:30 last night and woke up at 5:30 this morning... Hard to sleep now that we are getting there....

Biggest deal now - living through the weekend so that we can talk business on Monday.
